| frequent questions on the Follicular Units Transplantation (FUT) |
 |
 |
Q: Which is the cause of the fall of hair?
A: The most common is heredity. Men are more affected because the falling is mediated by a male hormone, the testosterone. The age of appearance of the baldness and its extension vary from person to person. If badly applied, even if the hair product is surely preparation for the hair beauty (dying, treatment) can damage the follicles in irreversible way. The frequent washing and insufficient circulation are not causes of hair falling.
Q: Is the Follicular Units Transplantation (FUT) efficacious?
A: Yes. The hair is removed from an area (the "donor area") of the same patient and are transferred in an other area (the "recipient area") without to be rejected because they are recognized as "not foreign". They really maintain there in own characteristics of colour, structure, grow and undulation. Formerly of the large grafts including many hair (15 - 20) were transplanted with very unesthetic looks result. Now with the FUT technique is possible to have very natural result of transplanting the single follicular units.
Q: What I have to wait after the operation?
A: The post-operative time does not create problems. After 24 hours you can put a shampoo. The nape suture is invisible and is removed after 8 days. It is advised to suspend the job for a couple of days after the operation, you can wear a cap, and must abstain from intense physical activity for one week. Transplanted hair grow approximately 1 cm to the month.
Q: Is the FUT (Follicular Units Transplantation) painful?
A: Many patients are surprised that the operation is not painful.
Q: What is going to be my aspect after the operation?
A: After the transplant they are present some minimal scabs, who are very little visible if they are sufficient hair, and however little striking; of rule they fall after one week approximately.
Q: How many days I can go back to work?
A: Oftenly it is possible to start after the day of operation. The Doctor will give you precise information during the visit.
Q: Is the FUT (Follicular Units Transplantation) expensive?
A: The FUT can be less expensive than a hair prosthesis, or the other treatments, not the medical who requested successive attentions and many expenses. Considering that the result is permanent, it is an optimal investment for own wellness.
With the "megasession®" the cost is ulteriorly reduced.
Q: Is the laser favourable for the FUT (Follicular Units Transplantation)?
A: Laser can be useful in particular cases. In ordinary conditions, the operation with laser requires more time.
Q: How many sessions of FUT (Follicular Units Transplant) will I need?
A: The number of the sessions depends on the entity of the bald area, on the number and the dimension of the grafts to be transplanted, on the density the patients decision, on the characteristics of the hair (for example: thick hair simulate greater density than fine hair). From when they are executed "megasession®" the number of sessions is hardly reduced.
Q: How many "megassesion®"?
A: Usually one single "megasession®" is sufficient, sometimes two are necessary.
Q: What are FUE, and FIT?
A: They are poor techniques: FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction), or FIT (Follicular Isolation Technique) are the direct harvest with punch of follicular units (FU) from the donor area. The number of FU who can be extracted is few, it is useful for little bald areas or to replace the eyebrows. It presents many drawbacks, first of all the distortion of the remaining FU in the nape of the neck, who will not be useful for future harvesting.
Q: What is the hair multiplication?
A: It is a dangerous technique: the hair multiplication is the transverse section of one follicle in the hope of producing two hair: actually many of the "multiplicated" hair do not grow, some of them grow fine and scrubby, some cause creation of epithelial cysts who appear as little bumps of the scalp.
Q: Is it possible to transplant body and beard hair in the scalp?
A: Yes, but we must avoid that: body and beard hair have an anatomical structure very different from scalp hair, it is very hard to comb they, and they are very unesthetic if transplanted for hair restoration.
